13 Things To Do In Butte, Montana

We were on our way up to Cardston in Alberta, Canada, and heading up I-15 in Montana.  All of a sudden, Sue yelled, “Stop!”  Well, I couldn’t really stop because I was on the freeway.  But I pulled off at the next exit and headed back south.  Sue had seen a huge statue on top of the mountains east of the freeway.  We were in Butte, Montana.

Waterfalls of Silver Falls State Park

Waterfalls of Silver Falls State ParkOn our way from Ashland to Portland, we took a couple of side trips, one to the Oregon Vortex and the other to Silver Falls State Park, where we spent an entire day.  What a place!  We had no idea that there were soooo many waterfalls in Oregon, and that was evident during the day that we spent exploring this beautiful state park. Ashland, Oregon

Last month, we had the chance to spend a few days in Ashland, Oregon.  Our son, Brian Russell Carey was appearing in Ring of Fire at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre, so we made the trip up to see him perform and spend a couple of weeks in Oregon.  We loved it!

Ashland is a small town of about 20,000 nestled in the foothills of the Siskiyou and Cascade mountains.  It’s most famous attraction is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Read the rest of this entry »

Southern Utah State Parks : Podcast 25

As part of our trip to Bryce Canyon National Park, Sue and I visited some of Utah’s beautiful state parks, including, Kodachrome Basing State Park and Fremont Indian State Park.  We also took a beautiful drive along Highway 12, designated as an All-American road.   The scenery was beautiful.  In this episode, Sue and I talk about this part of our trip to southern Utah.

Tillamook Rock Lighthouse

Tillamook Rock Lighthouse from Ecola State ParkAs Sue and I headed down the Oregon coast on our Northwest Trip, we continued our Lewis and Clark discoveries. We visited Seaside, where Lewis and Clark had some of the men make salt from the seawater.  We were heading on down to Cannon Beach where a beached whale was also part of their visit.  We turned off to Ecola State Park.
